Sarah Palin

My first reaction to Obama picking Biden as his running mate was that he had just lost the election. If when picking a running mate you decide to choose one of your primary opponents, I recommend choosing a serious candidate, not someone that had been laughed out of the last primary he had run in 20 years ago for serial lying and general buffoonery.

But I held back saying so because I knew it was well within McCain’s power to screw it up. Let say it picked Joe Liberman, or Huckabee, Chuck Hagel, George Voinovich, or even (knock on wood) Lindsey Graham. Fortunately it looks like all except the first weren’t under consideration. But all the signs were pointing to Tim Pawlenty.

Instead we get Sarah Palin.

I’m afraid of getting too ecstatic over McCain picking her as his running mate. If she avoids having Quaylitis thrust upon her by the press (just let her say something like Obama said about 57 states and its all over) I think she and McCain will win.

Is it too much to say, “Our future Margaret Thatcher”. I hope not.
