Well the stake is finally through its heart, at least for this term. But there was more than a little hypocrisy in the final results.

The vote was almost certainly closer than the final results show. There is Brownback’s change after it failed, and I think its safe to say that Collins, Coleman, McConnell, Warner,and Voinovich would all have voted for cloture if it would have passed. In fact, the way the wind was blowing was probably evident before the 40th no vote was cast. Perhaps around the time Burr was voting.
